Back to The Dales Way

Day 5, Dent to Sedburgh, 7.36 miles, 2.1 miles/hour. Another short day, what a luxury! We were meant to walk further today (to Bramaskew), but I messed up the reservation. Most of today’s short trip traverses through Dentdale until the approach in Sedburgh. The weather is overcast but dry, perfect hiking weather but would still prefer 10-20F degrees lower.

(She’d rather be sleeping anyway).

Millthrop Bridge. We met a person here that was practicing for the World Stone Skimming Championship in Argyll, Scotland on Sept 24th.

The Pepperpot. A gazebo part of the former 1893 Akay estate (now owned by Sedburgh School). It has a long story involving cows and tuberculosis.

The Dalesman in Sedburgh. This was our splurge accommodation on the trail. Amazing everything. Ran into several trail friends, we met over the course of the week, just sitting on the patio.
