Day 5, Dent to Sedburgh, 7.36 miles, 2.1 miles/hour. Another short day, what a luxury! We were meant to walk further today (to Bramaskew), but I messed up the reservation. Most of today’s short trip traverses through Dentdale until the approach in Sedburgh. The weather is overcast but dry, perfect hiking weather but would still prefer 10-20F degrees lower.
Church Bridge leads to Dent, we’re half-mile away here, with the reminders about where our food comes from. I do appreciate that they allow dogs on the trails, and provide guidance and direction, rather than banning altogether. David and I were in the minority on the trail, without our pooch with us. (She’d rather be sleeping anyway).
The Pepperpot. A gazebo part of the former 1893 Akay estate (now owned by Sedburgh School). It has a long story involving cows and tuberculosis.
